Alpine Spirit Mercedes O405NH Volgren CR225L BS04OA
In 2018 the beginnings of a tide of displaced Transperth Mercedes O405NH buses headed east to Victoria primarily for use on Rail Replacement services as the eastern state spent big on level crossing replacements and the a cross city rail tunnel causing prolonged commuter rail closures. Alpine Spirit's buses had a dual use as they will doubtless head north to the snow fields mid winter to transport skiers, but in January 2019 former 1147 (TP1147), now registered BS04OA, was free to work railway shuttles. It is seen opposite the Arts Precinct waiting its next run in much the same state in which it left Perth, fleet number still visible and the green part of its livery painted black.

Even Dysons acquired a number of the bug-eyed Volgren CR225L bodied Mercs. They too retained Perth's silver and black, but at least gained Dysons' fleetnames and fleet numbers. Seen in January 2019 close to St Kilda Junction and heading east up the Dandenong Highway is R1101 (BS04ND), former 1513 (TP1513), the "R" possibly denoting an allocation to rail replacement duties.

Victorian Touring Mercedes O405NH Volgren CR225L 53
In contrast Victorian Touring Coaches made a real effort to personalise its acquisitions and even letter them as a "Rail Support Vehicle". Seen at temporary stops outside Hamer Hall in January 2019 is former 1703 (TP1703), now 53 (6253AO), hiding its twenty years well.

Sister vehicle 55 (6255AO), former 1701 (TP1701), is seen a few weeks later at the end of January at a temprorary terminus at Dandenong Station, unfortunately separated across the tracks from the normal Rail Station entrance and its associated Bus Station and only accessible by the many-steps footbridge.
