A visit to the tiny island of Rottnest ("Rotto" to the locals) off the coast of Perth in 1989 found local transport in the hands of a small number of ex Transperth Hinos operating for the Rottnest Island Authority. Freighter bodied Hino RC520P 42 (8BA043), originally 927 (UQB927), was undertaking a tour of the island, which is something of a nature's wonderland.

On arrival by ferry you were not only greeted by wild peacocks, but also a less wild Hino. Here Freighter bodied Hino`RC250P 47 (7NK842) waits to take passengers on an island tour. Its yellow livery is from its days as a Transperth Yellow Clipper 930 (UQB930), the pre-runner to the CAT service.

Possibly the same bus is seen on tour of the picturesque island later in the day.

Two Hinos rendez-vous on the island.

Back at the quayside one of the Hinos shows off its old City Clipper split arrow livery.
