MTT Leyland Tiger OPS4 Comeng 4
In 1959 the MTT bought 23 Comeng bodied Leyland Tiger OPS4 singledeckers deemed surplus by the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board after the 1956 Commonwealth Games. The buses, known locally as "The Melbournes" stayed some years with the MTT, the last retiring in 1981. Eight years earlier four were converted to tow wagons. New as Melbourne 329 in 1950, this Tiger became MTT 269 and when converted to a tow truck it was numbered 4. Initially it was in green and cream but in 1981 as a safety measure it was painted yellow. The bus still sees use in helping to move members of the BPSWA collection which cannot shift under their own power - yet!
