Further help was at hand for the strained DABs in 2006 after ten years service. A new fleet of Mercedes OC500LE CNG powered Volgren CR228L bodied CATs had sprung into action, like 11 (CAT11) seen here at an exhibition in April 2006 displaying the huge CAT motif on the side.

The Mercedes formed the backdrop to the Transperth stand, and the opportunity was being taken to present all aspects of the operation. However the CAT put the emphasis on the new buses for the downtown services and the third yellow CAT route.

With route branding of vehicles long abandoned, lip service was paid to the possibility with the tri-colour red, yellow and blue striping.

CAT on the prowl. As the sun sets in April 2009 a CAT makes its way from the City Busport to the Swan Bells Tower, passing the silhouetted ferris wheel.

Mercedes 17 (CAT17) was already prowling the streets in April 2006 as a Blue CAT and displays the graphics which do indeed give the impression of a cat on the prowl.
