Tuesdays at Whiteman Park in Perth is when the Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia hold their weekly workshops. Visiting this week I was shown round by "Old Bill", an active bus preservationist in his nineties and a walking mountain of knowledge and information. He was particularly fond of Perth's trolleybuses and several Sunbeam models, in various states of decay are stored in the workshops, but pride of place goes to former 38, a Leyland TB5 which entered service during World War II in late 1943 and gave Perth twenty years service - and a few more as a staff restroom at Causeway depot. The body, built by the WA railways workshops, was restored in 1998 but the leather on the seats is a little fragile these days.
