Exciting SHOWBUS news this week as Carousel Buses are planning to extend the "red one" on Sunday 29th September 2019 to the display at the Hertfordshire Showground. The service is jointly operated with Arriva the Shires between High Wycombe and Chesham, but on Sundays the route reaches across to Hemel Hempstead. This will link SHOWBUS with the Marylebone line at Wycombe and Amersham, the Underground at Amersham and Chesham and the Euston line at Hemel. This will be in addition to the service already planned linking with the St Albans stations and a hoped for link to Luton and Dunstable via the busway. All services will connect with the free shuttle, at least every fifteen minutes, to Whipsnade Zoo, where holders of SHOWBUS tickets will be able to get 50% off admission.
The bus depicted on the 1 in Castle Street, High Wycombe, this week is ex Oxford Bus Company 856 (UF56OXF) which has kept its fleet number on transfer from the city fleet. It is one of several Citaros transferred, several of which have been running with Oxford fleetnames, but recently some of them have gained the red one identity, which has previously been carried by Optare Tempos and an MCV bodied MAN.
