An undoubted star of SHOWBUS next weekend is the UK's first all electric coach, manufactured by Yutong, EL19TRC, one of two recently delivered to SHOWBUS stalwart, Westway Coaches. The coach will also be offering visitors a chance to sample it on the road. We had hope to have a wide selection of electric powered buses at this year's SHOWBUS, but TfL is anxious to have them on the road. Many thanks therefore to Metroline for sparing one of the most interesting new electric buses to join their four vehicle display, one of the Optare Metrodeck EV buses. Illustrated below is their first EV, OME2650 (YJ19HVA), seen at the popular Potters Bar depot Open Day back in July. The Metrodeck has been around a few years and to date its only significant sales success has been to Reading Buses for their Green Line services which are due to enter service any day now. However their new electric version, the Metrodeck EV has already entered service from Potters Bar garage on the 134 and more are due for York Park & Ride.
