welcome to the showbus picture of the week
see over 30,000 pictures worldwide free to view in our galleries |
We are grateful to Ian Lynas for this week's offering from the Pacific island of Fiji. The phot dates from 2012 and Ian has provided a host of information - and some more photos - about buses on the island. This has prompted an unplanned update of our tired Fiji Gallery to correct some information and add detail to the captions. Keep an eye on our updates. The bus sports a huge Leyland badge, but also an Albion Viking badge being a Viking EVK41L model built in 1971 and bodied locally by Shreedhar with 56 seats and open windows. The bus, registered AB866, was new to Island Buses based in Nausori and Suva and they rebuilt it to the original design in 2009. It was definitely still in service in 2023. Of late Fiji operators have been preserving some of their older vehicles whilst more modern vehicles are becoming widespread in the island fleets.
