The readily recognisable Selfridges building in the centre of Birmingham is the backdrop to Diamond Midlands Wright Streetdeck 40839 (MX21AUE), a refugee from the company's operations in Manchester following the franchise operations. With West Midlands due to follow suit one wonders where it might find itself after that. The bus is on the hotly contested 50 series of routes, fought against National Express West Midlands one of whose Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV BYD D8UR-DD electric deckers is bringing up the rear. The buses are seen on May 27th, the Streetdeck is one of several city buses wrapped for the Emirates airline from both fleets. Its red appearance - as opposed to the usual blue - helps is blend with the old National Express West Midlands pre-platinum red livery.
