Solo RR03 is seen in Oxford in October 2003 bound for Stokenchurch. After the Green Line interlude the 275 became an hourly bus service and was progressively cut back by Arriva and then withdrawn. The two Councils involved, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire could not agree on the specification for the tendered replacement service which resulted in only one return journey to Oxford daily and a shopping journey on two days a week and several short workings from Oxford to the county border near Stokenchurch. Passengers were expected to transfer to the Arriva Stokenchurch - Wycombe 340 service and journeys were timed to connect. This was as successful as the "chocolate teapot" and Red Rose chose to commercially register the service through to Wycombe rather than have the bus sat in Stokenchurch doing nothing for an hour. In Summer 2006 they registered additional commercial journeys so that there was a daily service suitably timed for workers and shoppers to Oxford. Inevitably patronage has dwindled and subsidy has been needed and the route altered to cover other waning routes along the county borders. |
The 275 has to battle with the usual congestion in Oxford, seen here in St Aldates with a Stagecoach Oxford MAN/Alexander ALX300 and Arriva the Shires Olympian 5101 (G651UPP). |
Optare Solo RR03BUS was not exclusively bound to the 275 and was often interchanged with Red Rose's other Optare Solo. Here the bus is seen in the picturesque village of Aldbury, by the Pond terminus. The 327 is nominally Tring's town service, though its major job is to link the town with the railway station, particularly timed for London commuter traffic. |
