For a bus based in Hastings 1066 is a perfect registration number, even if prefixed by a less appropriate selection of letters: KIW. The Plaxton Beaver bodied Mercedes is 58 in the Empress of Hastings fleet and is a former PMT vehicle. It is seen here at SHOWBUS international 2002 having taken part in the Gold Run from Cambridge to Duxford. Empress had painted the vehicle in gold for Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee. Alongside is Wirral Museum's former London Routemaster also suitably decorated for the celebrations. |
The Badgerline group were very fond of Dennis Lances and large numbers entered service with several fleets typically with Plaxton Verde bodywork. PMT however had some with Northern Counties Paladin bodies, like this one seen in Barbie 2 colours in Chelmsford in 2005 after transfer to First Essex buses the year before: 60102 (P868MBF).

Once PMT 1029 (AEH129C), an Alexander bodied Daimler Fleetline, still in NBC poppy red with PMT fleetnames painted out, it is seen in June around 1980 on hire to Red Rover from Motts Travel and working Linkline route 9 on Haydon Hill. Red Rover was short of buses that day as at least two of their London DMS deckers were on hire to the Hillingdon Show Society operating the free weekend shuttle to Uxbridge LT Station.
