Midland Fox, with its Midland Red heritage, was not a Bristol operator, but a few buses found their way in to the fleet, including this ex Oxford ECW bodied VRTSL3, once 469 (CJO469R). |

MCW Metroliners were largely purchased for National Express services, but City of Oxford acquired a batch for the Oxford - London express. Many Metroliners became popular as open top sighseeing vehilces as their length gave more seats than usual on the all important top deck. Thus former 906 (C906GUD) ended up working for Arriva's Original London Sightseeing Tour in the company of more conventional MCW model, albeit deroofed, the Metrobus. |
Assisting the fleet of four ex London Leyland Titans on Melbourne's City Sightseeing tours were a pair of former Oxford Leyland Olympians, previously used on Malta. Gulin (8514AO) was new as City of Oxford 225 (E225CFC) in 1988 for the 280 Oxford - Aylesbury service. It later saw service on the city Park & Ride services and with the Wycombe Bus Company subsidiary. When Arriva bought Motts Yellow Bus operations the bus passed to Arriva the Shires with the rationalisation of services in High Wycombe. It went from Arriva to Malta. It is seen here alongside Federation Square, the tour start point, with several of the Titans in November 2013. Note it has the same style of roofing as the Titans to prevent passengers touching the tram overhead wiring plus new "bunny ear" wing mirrors. Picture courtesy of Nidhi Sharma |
The second Olympian in the same location on the same day, Giuseppi (8515AO) had a similar prior life to Gulin, being new as Oxford 229 (E229CFC). It had a higher profile during its Wycombe Bus Company days being painted in commemorative livery for the Thames Valley Traction Company. Picture ref A1521 |
