Low floor Alexander ALX300 MANs were the first for the Stagecoach group and went into service at Oxford. Stagecoach livery was been tweaked to bring some colour to route identities with the blue tops being used on the 7 services from Barton to Kidlington. |

Clearly there was not enough blue top delivered, so Stagecoach Oxford had to "play the white man" on occasion! MAN 18.220 916 (S916CFC) is environmentally friendly despite the CFC registration!

One of the MANs seen on the X39 Heathrow-Oxford service on the M4 near Slough. The service was subject to inevitable delays due to congestion on the M4 and around Heathrow, coupled to the length of the route. It featured in a traffic court case concerning service reliability which resulted in Stagecoach Oxford having various penalties served. The Traffic Commissioner offered little sympathy. The route was subsequently abandoned, depriving residents around Henley and on the route to Oxford, of a direct service to Heathrow. Thames Travel replaced the service, but only between Oxford and Henley. The route had certainly experienced a wide range of vehicles as our gallery shows. The MAN buses came after ex Wallace Arnold B10M/Plaxton coaches, Mercedes minibuses and Darts. Thames Travel initially used Mercedes minibuses.
