 Optare Excels are quite rare within the First Group and Leicester was chosen to receive a batch of ten. They were delievered in GRT advance colours using the brighter red. Unusually the batch, including 302 (R2LCB) here, were repainted and were amongst the first vehicles in First's new corporate livery. The batch also enjoyed special registrations: R1-10LCB and most ended their days in Wigan, being transferred to Stagecoach with the sale of the Wigan operations. |

Sandwiched between two Yorkshire vehicles at SHOWBUS in 2002 was Northern Counties bodied Dennis Falcon 625 (L625XFP) in the then new Barbie 2 livery for non low floor fleet fleet members.
