Celebrating a centenary of Public Transport at Showbus 80 at Thorpe Park is appropriately painted Roe bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68 21 (SDX21R) in the company of Massey bodied AEC Regent V 63 (ADX63B). In 2003 another bus was painted to celebrate 100 years of Ipswich Buses, 21 is going back to the start of the tram era in 1880. Bearing in mind the first diesel bus appeared in 1950, 1903 is believed to be the year the municipality took control of the tram system, relacing the trams with trolleybuses from 1923. Muscling in on the action is former Coventry, but West Midlands PTE liveried East Lancs bodied Daimler Fleetline 123 (PDU123M). |
