Sydney Buses are celebrating 85 years this year with twelve buses painted in various historic liveries. Regular photographer Nidhi Sharma managed this shot of Bustech VST bodied Scania K280UB 2579 (2579ST) in the livery used in the days of the Sydney Explorer tourist service. Vinyl wraps used on the buses not only imitate the livery, but attempt to alter the body style to replicate the vehicles of the period with multiple narrower and - pretend - window sliders. Regulars will know that we are in the throws of updating the Sydney Buses mini gallery and hope to add a special section for the 85th anniversary buses. Nidhi is on the look out and our recent visit to Sydney has ensured we have five of the twelve already snapped, but the buses are elusive spread across the city. We are after pictures of Tempe based Bustech 2651 in the blue Olympics bid livery, Leichhardt's Bustech 2799 in the pre war red livery, Willoughby's Bustech 2652 in the old green and cream colours, Kingsgrove's Custom CB80 2559 in 1978 livery, Brookvale's Bustech 2706 in original Mercedes O405 livery and Burwood's CB80 2833 in Opera House livery. If you have pictures we can use, check the "contact" tab and email them in.
