In service since late 2023, Victoria's pair of hydrogen powered buses in service with Transit Systems had been elusive in service. On Saturday both were found inside the old SITA depot in West Footscray. This is 174 (BS11NG), its partner, 175 (BS11NH), was being refuelled. Helpful staff allowed access and photography revealing the buses were popular with drivers and passengers and had proved very reliable. The other buses and coaches at the depot were equally interesting with the fleet of Optare Solo SR school buses, a few ex Territory Transit buses, some Alpine Spirit ex Transperth Mercedes and some ex Brisbane Oranas. ARCC is opening a new Nowra bus building plant with an order for 126 battery powered buses for NSW fleets. The factory will also produce hydrogen power plants and hydrogen powered trucks.
