Eclipsed by the Yutong doubledeckers in Bristol last week was this picture from the previous weekend at the back of Stagecoach West's Cheltenham depot. Patiently waiting to enter service on the 94 to Gloucester was brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV 80239 (YX25NXJ), one of fifteen, but it has not got fleetnames or fleet numbers as yet. More importantly it lacks anywhere to plug it in! The buses were ordered some while back, hence the old livery rather than slate blue, though interestingly it is not in Stagecoach's yellow livery which had been largely replacing Stagecoach Gold, the 94 being a Gold route. Though the depths of the depot were not explored 80239 appeared to be the only electric resident, it is believed the rest are waiting at the Patchway depot in north Bristol until the charging equipment is fully installed at Cheltenham. By luck to contrast alongside was the stalwart ECW bodied Bristol VRTSL3 JOU160P in Cheltenham District colours, now numbered 30. Fifty years separate the duo!
