Arriva the Shires Leyland Olympian Northern Counties 5108
The Blunderbus, Lambeth Council's brand new playbus that Motts acquired in Yellow Bus days with virtually no mileage n the clock when it was about five years old. Motts fitted it out themselves with parts from Northern Counties. It was one of the last bodies built by them in the Manchester style, the Olympian chassis had an unusual engine gearbox combination. It is thought Lambeth paid over list price for not having the usual internal fixtures - sometimes you can just see them coming! The bus passed to Arriva as 5108 (F506OYW) with most of the Yellow Bus fleet and was one of the last buses painted from Shires to Arriva livery.

In summer 2006 the Blunderbus is seen in Wycombe High Street on town service 326. The bus was sold on to East Midlands based McEwens, who probably had a bargain, moreso if they knew its history.

Former Motts Volvo B6 Northern Counties 3138
This is one of the two Northern Counties bodies Volvo B6 buses bought new for the Yellow Bus fleet, which passed a year later to The Shires with the Yellow Bus operations. They both dovetailed nicely with the fleet of B6/NCME already in service with the Shires, both were based at Wycombe and L922LJO had found its way to Heathrow Airport on the joint Bee Line operation from Wycombe. The Shires also had a B6 is dedicated green/yellow livery for the service, but it somehow didn't always make it on to the 74!

Volvo B6 3138 (L922LJO) in full Arriva colours, is seen at Quoitngs Square, the old Marlow terminus, in November 2007 on an "800 short". When the Reading services were renumbered from 328 and 329 to 800 and 850, the off peak service between Marlow and Wycombe was increased to half hourly with extra 800 journeys but were later abandoned in favour of a twenty minute service through to Reading, which was reduced forther to half hourly in 2015.
