RET 2039 is an earlier Citadis I. These were Rotterdam's first low floor trams which had some design compromises, which were addressed with the Citadis II. The low floor limited space for the wheels, motors and braking systems. This limited where the wheels could be attached to the body. Thus the front and rear sections of the tram swing out noticeably on curves as can be seen to an extent on this view of 2039. Some tram line bends had to be modified before these trams entered service.
