The Metrobus BRT network project has not been without problems. The first route using dedicated busways and bus lanes was the m2 on the 29th May 2018. The m3 followed in September. Both routes used Alexander Dennis Enviro400MMC bodied Scania N250UD doubledeckers like 36801 (YM17FKP) seen in the city centre August the following year. The m1 route started in January 2019 operated by Bristol Community Transport under contract to First using gas powered Scanias. However parent company CT Plus collapsed in August 2022 and First took on operation of m1 too. Initial operations were plagued by roadworks and congestion making the R in BRT a bit of a laughing stock.
