Part of the ancestry of short Welsh buses is this trio of early style ECW bodied Bristol RESL6L. Nearest the camera is RS3567 (LAX107E) new as RS.767, in the middle RS4467 (LAX116E) new as RS.1667 which had its cream window surround rubbers replaced by black. The third is thought to be RS3367 (LAX105E) new as RS.567.

Whereas Red & White bought Bristols to the newly formed fleet, Western Welsh bought Leylands, though the first in the line up, a Weymann bodied Tiger Cub, was new as Rhondda 371 (XTG371) in 1959. Next up was a Willowbrook bodied example new as Western Welsh 1330 (ABO330B) and another Rhondda Tiger Cub of 1964 with Willowbrook body, new as 392 (392WTG). Next up was former Rhondda 313 (RTG313F) with Marshall body followed by another Western Welsh Willowbrook bodied example from the ABO-B registered batch.
