An unusual choice of vehicle was the Optare Star-Rider - a heavily disguised version of the standard
Mercedes 800 series minibus chassis. This First Western National example was still giving good service in October 1999 in Plymouth.

Mercedes 6347 (K347DRL) was a recently renumbered Beaver bodied Merc 709, still sporting the red, white and
blue flags livery in October 1999 on Plymouth's Royal Parade.
