Winding the clock back, M1353 (C353BUV) is in the pre-privatisation London livery with simple white fleetnames. It is at Heathrow Airport on the 555, which was later taken over by blue liveried London United Dennis Dart SLFs with Plaxton Pointer 2 bodies. |

M6 (WYW6T), now preserved, is seen at work in early London United days on the 90B to Richmond. |

Route 81 has seen a variety of vehicles since London United sold its Optare Deltas. Dennis Dart SLFs settled on to the route, though this Metrobus harked back to doubledeck operation when London Buslines operated DMSs and Olympians. Back in LT days the route had been RT operated, and briefly RM, though is perhaps best known for the early Leyland Nationals (LS class) which arrived after initial comparative operations alongside Metro Scanias on the S2 in Dalston. Prior to the Darts, the small London United Leyland Lynx fleet ran the route.
