High Wycombe had a new Bus Station in 2007 a variety of Arriva Scania and Dart singledeckers and Olympians shared the new facility with Carousel. The finishing touches were still being put ot the roof of the adjoining Eden shopping centre. |
In August 2016 High Wycombe received an influx of Mercedes Citaro singledeckers in MAX livery and route branded for the 800/850 Reading services. They were transferred from Arriva Midlands to combat competition on the route from Carousel Buses. Three of the Citaros can be seen in the Bus Station in this September view. In the foreground is one of the Alexander ALX300 bodied Volvo B10BLE buses previously used on the 800/850 and still sporting branding for it. So there were four buses route branded for the 800/850 and ironically none of them were heading for Reading. Wycombe depot was enjoying its new Mercedes and despite their deicated branding hey were being used across the local network. At least one of the ALX300 branded buses continued to serve Wycombe for another twelve months until finally ousted by new Enviro200MMC buses for town service 32, wisely deployed without route branding.

This bus stop on the Reading service is a bit of a curiosity. Situated just beyond High Wycombe at the top of the hill down into Marlow Buckinghamshire County Council had replaced the old stop, possibly because it uniquely acquired a Motts Yellow Bus sticker and no Arriva sticker. The stop was out of date as it still advertised Carousel route 2, which shuttled between Marlow and Wycombe. That the stop required such a fancy sign was a puzzle as it is literally in the middle of nowhere and does not warrant a stop on the opposite side for Wycombe bound passengers! |
