Eastern National had a long tradition of operating doubledeck coaches. This long wheel base Leyland Olympian has the rather utilitarian style of ECW coach bodywork, whereas later models were more attractive. The London Express livery was short lived, but the plan was that coaches used on commuter routes doubled up by working London tours during the day. |
Believed to be at the Southend Bus Rally around 1980 is the obvious Plaxton Supreme IV bodied Bristol RELH6G 1407 (XVW632L) sporting a new interpretation of NBC coach livery, but of more interest is the Peugeot car on the left. It is promoting a new form of rural transport being marketed as "Countrycar" - whatever became of that?
