Transit Systems BCI Citirider 8617
A second major train replacement bus service started in Sydney in 2024. Following on from joint Hillsbus and Transdev operation centred on Epping and Chatswood, the train between Sydenham and Bankstown was next in line for pink fronted buses. This operation used sixty new BCI Citiriders branded Southwest Link operating a trio of routes (SW1-SW3) liking the two destinations. The project will take about a year and the new driverless Metro trains will take over the line, which already crosses the Harbour for a speedy journey to Sydenham. Unlike the previous Station Link operation the Southwest Link involves some older vehicles supplied by U-go. This is BCI Citirider 8617 (MO8617) seen outside Sydenham Station at the start of January 2025.

The day before Australia Day 2025 there were more serious problems on Sydney's rail network and a number of the Southwest Link buses were seen heading into the CBD accompanied by the inevitable Transperth Mercedes O405NH on rail replacement..
