A 2004 visit to Surfers Paradise on the Brisbane Gold Coast found no sign of any Leyland Nationals, though one or two Leyland Tigers roamed free. This Mercedes-Benz OH1316 with Custom Coaches 53 seat bus body, 847 (026AQK), is part of a large collection of assorted singledeckers used primarily for school transport. It was previously owned by Gold Coast Citybus.

Superior bodied 849 (028AQK) is from the same source and has an identical chassis to 847.

Different again is 850 (029AQK) with more familiar Austral bus bodywork, again on a Mercedes OH1316 chassis and previously owned by Citybus.

Yet another variation is this North Coast bodied ex Citybus OH1316, 845 (030BNL). Whereas the others date from the late eighties, 845 was new to Citybus in 1992.

The last picture in this set of ex Citybus vehicles is 843 (536CGO) a Mercedes OC1617 with Denning 'Denflex' 57 coach body. This is the oldest vehicle of the group, dating from 1986. It was new to Smekels.
