April 2010 at Tullamarine Bus Lines' Airport West depot and Grenda SmartBus Volvo B7RLEs are sharing space with Tullamarine's Mercedes, all with Volgren bodies. The Grenda buses are brand new 8385 (7497AO) and 8381 (7654AO) both with bodies built in Volgren's Malaysian plant. The Tullamarines are O500LE 14 (1114AO), older O405NH 10 (1110AO) and O500LE 2 (1102AO). |

The 888/889 transformed into SmartBus 901 and extended to Melbourne Airport in the north west making it the longest bus route in Melbourne at 115km connecting with nine railway lines along the way. Here Volvo B7RLE 8621 (8067AO), another 2010 Malaysian build, is seen at the Airport in February 2012. Whereas the Skybus and other airport shuttles draw up right outside the main terminal building the Smartbus was banished to a stop several minutes walk away from the terminal, but directly opposite the Tiger Airways terminal. A direct bus link from Frankston to Tiger: they should have called it BoganBus! The stop was briefly relocated outside Terminal 1 with other services until a new bus terminal was opened back by Tiger and used by some internal airport shuttles and SmartBus. |
