Buses and coaches available for hire
Red Rose was established in 1992 as a one minibus company operating the evening and Sunday services on Aylesbury's Linkline 7 route between
Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Quarrendon/Haydon Hill via the town centre. The route had been pioneered by the well known, but at the time recently taken over Red Rover company, established in 1927. Red Rose shares the same colour scheme with the defunct Red Rover, and Red Rover's Traffic Manager, Chris Day was a partner in Red Rose with Taj Khan, a former Red Rover part-time driver. The Red Rose name dates back many years, as a bus company too. Not only that Chris Day's relatives were involved with the old Red Rose, which used to operate between Halton, Wendover and Aylesbury,
until taken over by Eastern National in the early fifties. Chris Day's father used to own the Austin/Morris Red Rose garage in Wendover, until recent times. The newRed Rose started to operate the Halton, Wendover, Aylesbury service in the evenings under contract to Bucks County in 1996.
Red Rose has now grown to a fleet which can be counted in double figures, with vehicles ranging in size from 12 seat minibuses up to 61 seat buses. The vehicle pictures is a forty seat Dennis Dart/UVG singledeck bus, which was a frequent performer on the Bicester-Aylesbury service. Red Rose took over the contracted routes from Aylesbury to Bicester, Waddesdon, the Claydons and Quainton, bringing the old Red Rover colours back to an area in which they were
once well known and respected.
In addition to services for Buckinghamshire County Council, the company also operates for Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire on a wide variety of services and school contracts.
Sadly Chris Day passed away in 2011 and Taj Khan now runs the company. A new livery was adopted and the fleet has been modernised to 100% low floor buses, mostly Alexander Dennis Enviro200s. KX09ACU has beennamed inmemory of Chris. The company operates closely with Taj's other businsess interests which include Redline and Red Eagle.
Enthusiasts will find more photos of Red Rose vehicles in our photo gallery.
