A smart addition to Motts Travels mini fleet was this Optare Mercedes based Star Rider. In its dual role it sometimes found itself on route 20 to Wendover Market.

Above, F648PLW, the small Reebur bodied Merc 609 acquired from one of the Heathrow car rental courtesy fleets, believed to be Hertz, thereby needing little colour change! It is seen here amidst bluebells on the M1 route from Wycombe via Watlington to Reading. It is just south of Nettlebed.

A few weeks later, the same bus is seen at the Wheatley M40 services having done the same M1 route in the morning, but about to do a feeder service meeting holidaymakers back from Torquay. However, on the run down the M40 from Wycombe, there was a gust of wind and a loud crash! As you can see, it has lost its toupe! Motts mechanics tidied it up later, and PLW run for the rest of the year (1999) before leaving the fleet.

This early Mercedes with Reeve Burgess coachwork is seen on a special shuttle service ferrying visitors to the Tring & Wendover Canal showground to a craft fair at Marsworth Lock in summer 2001. |
Another Motts Mercedes minicoach.
