MVTA's previous livery was this bland white with minimal orange and green relief. This New Flyer, 4124, was part of a batch of six short D35LF new in 2002 and now withdrawn. Indeed in 2026 there were no New Flyer buses in the fleet, all 21 D40LF models of 2004 and 2006 following the D35LF.

With its affinity to Gillig, MVTA had a large fleet of Phantoms, many transferred from MetroTransit. This Phantom, 4015, however is one of two acquired from Pearce Transit in Washington State where it was new as 207 in 1985. Sheltering in the sheds its days in 2011 were definitiely numbered.

In common with many of the smaller operators in the Twin Cities area, MVTA operates a fleet of MCI commuter coaches, nearly fifty in total. Recent deliveries and acquisitions, principally from Blue Express, Laker Lines and Shakopee Transit, are in the new silver/orange/green livery. This is MCI D4500 4365 on the 470 Express, one of a large batch of thirteen delivered in 2004 and now withdrawn.
From the same batch is 4371 on the 460 to Burnsville passing a Southwest Transit MCI D4500, 584, a year newer than 4371, but also now withdrawn.
