Dedicated bus services to UWE (the University of the West of England) were Wessex Connect's foothold into services in the city. First now operate them and like other univeristy services around the country they are available to the general public. Part of a huge delivery of 46 Wright bodied Volvo B9TL buses delivered to the city in 2008, 37608 (WX58JXS) was new in Park & Ride livery, but rebranded for Unibus work.

Over in Bath where First has long been involved in University services 33946 (YX66WEV) was one of five Enviro400MMC buses assigned to Unibus services, also seen in August 2019. The bus has since been pained in Bath's blue city livery. Off to the left is a Faresaver Enviro200.

Seen the same day was this nineteen year old Wright bodied Volvo B7LA new to First York as 1120 (W122CWR), now numbered 10037 in the national scheme. Bendibuses were a feature of Bath Uni services for many years, but as they have fallen out of favour nationally they are no longer at work in the city.
