This set continues the Southdown theme by linking
two coaches that illustrate the rapid development in technology that took place in the post war
years. The first vehicle is the Leyland PS1 with Windover Huntingdon body. These elegant half cab
coaches were part of the Southdown fleet from 1947-1962, offering holiday makers luxurious
transport for many years on private hire workings. Collectors have been requesting a model of
these vehicles for some time, so we are sure that the demand will be great for this detailed
representation of how the vehicle looked in its original livery. Carrying a "South Coast Express"
board on its radiator, HUF 275, fleet number 1275, is seen with the appropriate "Private" displayed
on its destination blind. The second vehicle features our new B.E.T. style body on a Leyland Tiger
Cub chassis. Still capturing that classic Southdown look, this much more modern design of vehicle
provides the contrast which was visible in the Southdown fleet in the early 'sixties. 7660 CD, fleet
number 660, is on route 36 to Brighton. This set presents the two individually boxed models within
a customised Southdown sleeve. These models are offered to our subscribers only, at the special low price of £19.25 +£2.25 P&P. (UK) order forms are enclosed on separate sheet. |
