Dyson Nexport school bus 9790MO
Probably the highlight of the Bus & Coach Society of Victoria's weekend visit to Echuca, Castemaine and Floods was the visit this morning to the relatively small Dyson depot in Moama. With most of Dyson's depots and operations in Victoria, Moama is just inside New South Wales. The Deniliquin depot also houses around fifty NSW registered vehicles but Moama had just this one. Most of its work is a mix of V/Line operations and school buses across the Murray in Victoria. So here we have 9790MO an all electric Nexport school bus finished in NSW's "Breathe Easy" blue livery. The group were treated to a short tour of the area in the 55 seater on a hot day. Whilst the aircon was good, the well padded plastic seats were likely to be a problem with school kids thighs sticking to the seats! The bus emits an annoying beep at low speeds as it is supposedly quiet, at speed this is either drowned out by the noise or - more likely - stops. Nexport has a trio of electric products, reasonably well established is their 12.5m bus, badged as Nexport, but in reality a Gemilang bodied Chinese BYD. A 7.5m midibus has - as yet - no physical embodiment, and a bit like Wright's new midibus models is almost certainly a Chinese import. The pedigree of the school bus is unknown, but, again is almost certainly Chinese. A couple of years ago Nexport signed an agreement with Alexander Dennis, but this appears still born.
