The sun setting on this view in March of Driver's Denning low floor 121 (8221AO) is particularly poignant as at the end of last month the sun set on 82 years and 3 months of bus operation by the Driver family. An emotional decision brought about by the Victoria government's recent decision to take Ventura's National Bus and Smartbus operations from them on tender and pass the contracts to the French company, Veolia Transdev. Driver has sold to Singapore based Comfort-Delgro who already operate Eastrans and Westrans in Melbourne. The Driver family's love of Denning machinery means the CAT powered buses will eventually pass into history and only Driver coaches will be seen at Luna Park.
